Combining study and sports
Häme University of Applied Sciences is committed to supporting students in combining their sports career with their university studies.
HAMK belongs to the Tavastia Sports Academy, through which students who pursue sporting goals receive individual support to help them combine studying and sport.
Sports students apply to HAMK through the normal application procedures. Once selected as a student at the university, they can contact the university’s sports coordinator for advice on practical arrangements, such as applying for membership of the Sports Academy. Planning for a career in sport is also started as soon as you start your studies. If a student athlete does not meet the criteria for the Sports Academy, a number of support measures can still be offered to enable him/her to combine sport and studies.
Tavastia Sports Academy
The Tavastia Sports Academy is a sports organisation in Kanta-Häme, combining studies and sports coaching for young athletes aiming for the top. The academy offers athletes a comprehensive network of services, including good training conditions, support services and coaching at the place of study, in addition to combining sport and studies. It is coordinated locally by Koulutuskuntayhtymä Tavastia and nationally by the Sports Academy Programme under the Finnish Olympic Committee’s top sports unit.
