About
The co-creation and innovation programme in Zambia empowers companies, universities, public sector, and individual citizens, to join an inclusive community that supports local SMEs.
Co-creation and innovation activities offer concrete support to develop a service or product concept, concept description and business logic rationale for up to 15 teams which will be selected to the programme. Focus sectors include agribusiness, renewable energy, and circular economy.
The programme consists of three innovation workshops: Originally it was planned that two of them are web-based and one face-2-face in Lusaka, but because of Covid situation all of them are web-based. Pre-tasks will be facilitated between the workshops. During the workshops each team will design, test and develop a business concept and have an opportunity to network with potential international partners.
Key events of the programme are following:
- 8 February: Information session with companies
- 9-11 March: 1st workshop
- 22-24 March: 2nd workshop
- 11-13 April: 3rd workshop
- 26 April: final presentations
Innovation workshops also serve as model for local co-creation and more permanent cooperation structures, e.g. Living Labs where cross-sectoral and cross-disciplinary professionals meet up to innovate solutions and business models.
The programme is funded by the AGS programme (Accelerated Growth for SMEs in Zambia) and implemented in collaboration with Häme University of Applied Sciences, Crazy Town Hämeenlinna, University of Zambia and Mulungushi University.

HAMK vahvistaa yhteistyökumppaniensa kanssa Sambiassa yritysten, yliopistojen ja yhteiskunnallisten toimijoiden välistä yhteistyötä innovaatioekosysteemien kehittämiseksi ja paikallisten pienyritysten tukemiseksi. Ohjelmassa keskitytään maatalousyrittäjyyden, uusiutuvan energian ja kiertotalouden innovaatioihin.
Yhteiskehittäminen ja innovointi tukevat konkreettisesti palvelu- tai tuotekonseptin kehittämistä ja liiketoiminnan suunnittelua.
Ohjelma toteutetaan helmi-maaliskuussa 2022 kahtena verkkotyöpajana, Lusakassa kasvokkain pidettävänä työpajana ja niiden välisinä kirjallisina tehtävinä. Työpajoissa tiimit suunnittelevat, testaavat ja kehittävät liiketoimintakonseptin ja saavat mahdollisuuden verkostoitua kansainvälisten yhteistyökumppaneiden kanssa.
Innovaatiotyöpajoissa luodaan yhteiskehittämisen malli. Tavoitteena on luoda pysyviä yhteistyörakenteita, joissa monialaiset ja poikkitieteelliset tiimit voivat kohdata ja luoda ratkaisuja ja liiketoimintamalleja.
Ohjelma toteutetaan HAMKin, Crazy Town Hämeenlinnan, University of Zambian ja Mulungushi Universityn yhteistyönä. Ohjelmaa rahoittaa AGS (Accelerated Growth for SMEs in Zambia).
