The Riihimäki real estate deal planned by HAMK and Hyria progresses to preliminary agreement
Hämeen ammattikorkeakoulu Oy and Hyria koulutus Oy have approved a preliminary agreement on the sale of the property located on the Riihimäki campus.
The preliminary agreement is based on a letter of intent signed in September 2023, the main aim of which is to enable the UAS to locate its new campus in Riihimäki station area. In the letter of intent, the parties committed themselves to, among other things, negotiate the transfer of HAMK’s current property to Hyria. The preliminary agreement now concluded sets out the conditions under which the real estate transaction can take place.
For the University of Applied Sciences, the agreement will enable it to promote the creation of a new campus in the station area. Hyria, on the other hand, can plan the development of the Riihimäki campus on the basis of an option whereby activities could be relocated from the oldest parts of the campus to this property, which could be acquired from the University of Applied Sciences. In all options, Hämeen ammattikorkeakoulu and Hyria want to develop close operational cooperation, as a national education policy objective is to direct more secondary school students to higher education for further studies.
The preliminary agreement is valid until the end of 2026. The deal will only be concluded if the package envisaged in the letter of intent receives final approval from the governing bodies of the University of Applied Sciences, Hyria and the City of Riihimäki.
