Objective
This is a preparatory course for UAS studies.
After completing the course, you will be able to critically use artificial intelligence to
- create texts for various purposes
- translate and understand the content of different texts
- analyze and modify the tone and style of various texts
- produce comprehensible summaries of complex content
- break down tasks into manageable parts
- create plans and schedules
- search for information and compile it from multiple sources
- create presentations and videos
- understand the challenges related to the outputs of generative AI
Content
The independent online course consists of four components:
- supporting your own learning with the help of artificial intelligence: clarifying information, practicing conversation in a foreign language, breaking down information, scheduling
- text generation using artificial intelligence
- AI-assisted information search
- audiovisual presentation utilising AI tools
Schedule
The course content is designed to be studied within an indicative completion period of 8 weeks.
The content can be studied following your own individual timetable, but the recommended progression through the course material is as follows:
Weeks 1–2: How to Support your Learning Using AI Assistance? Completion of orientation and introductory tasks.
Weeks 3–4: AI Text Generation. Studying the materials, completing practice tasks, and a midterm on Large Language Models.
Week 5: AI Information Search. Studying the materials and completing practice tasks.
Weeks 6–7: Audiovisual presentation Skills. Studying the materials, completing practice tasks, and a midterm on image generation.
Week 8: Final Reflection. Reviewing course content and completing a reflective final exam.
Teaching methods
The course is conducted as an independent online module. Regular online clinic hours with the instructor support learning throughout the course. The Learn-Moodle platform is used as the learning environment.
Students are required to have access to a computer, as digital learning environments and materials are used.

Learning material
Learning materials include a variety of resources available online and materials prepared by the instructor. All necessary resources, links, and materials for the course are accessible online and available in the Learn-Moodle workspace throughout the course.
The course content includes familiarizing with and using various potential AI services and applications, so students should be prepared to log in and register for external services of their choice. The services presented in the course are free to use, and should not cause extra costs to the student.
Course Contents:
AI for Supporting Learning:
This part of the course focuses on using AI to support learning, such as breaking down assignments into manageable parts and creating project plans. You will learn how to use AI for producing plain language texts, understanding and translating materials, and modifying the tone and style of texts. You will also practice role-playing conversations with AI partners.
AI Text Generation:
You will explore the theory behind generative text and learn to create different types of texts, including templates, emails, and reports. You will use AI for note-taking, creating mind maps, and proofreading, as well as correcting errors in your texts. You will practice language learning with AI, and receiving feedback.
AI Information Search:
The section teaches information retrieval and effective use of sources. You will learn to gather information from multiple sources, summarize complex texts into plain language, and use AI to create and practice comprehension questions based on the content.
Audiovisual Presentation:
You will create presentations and generate images using AI tools such as Firefly, DALLE-3, and Leonardo. The course can also cover video creation with AI assistance.
Class schedule
One ECTS is equivalent to approximately 27 hours of study work.
The course requires active participation in lessons and independent work. Time should be set aside for both studying the learning materials and completing assignments on a weekly basis. Students will be able to manage their own workload according to their own schedule.
Cooperation with the business sector
The course does not include any work life integration. The course exercises and the assignments to be returned are related to practical examples from working life.
