We promote sustainable growth and well-being by reforming education systems and developing competences in collaboration with our partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
We at HAMK have expertise in developing both human resources and education systems and the learning environments formed around them. New learning solutions are being created from early childhood education to primary, secondary, vocational education, higher education and adult education.
Our strong practical expertise in various fields – such as bioeconomy, construction, entrepreneurship as well as health and well-being – are at the core of our operations. Digital solutions are developed and applied diversely in different learning environments.

Enabling student-centered learning at higher education institutions, creating a network-based learning ecosystem and the practices of climate-smart agricultural entrepreneurship.
Developing Pedagogy for 21st Century Skills in Nepal (21stCS Nepal)
We concentrate on teacher training and the development of Nepalese universities’ capacity to educate/train teachers to apply pedagogy for 21st century skills.
Education Modernization Brazil, Colombia, Europe – the new era of digital higher education cooperation (EMBRACE)
The EMBRACE project aims to address the needs of Latin American partners in developing and implementing institutional reforms to modernize higher education. It recognizes education as a powerful tool to tackle both regional and global challenges.
FOREST21
FOREST21 is a joint project for strengthening capacity in South African higher education in forestry. The project is implemented in collaboration of five higher education institutions (HEIs) in South Africa that have forestry curricula or will start teaching forestry.
Kenyan TVET Goes Green
We promote sustainable development competencies in Kenya’s vocational education by focusing on curriculum updates and teacher training. Specifically, we aim to ensure that all young people, regardless of gender or background, have equal opportunities to develop green economy skills and participate in labor markets based on sustainable development.

TVET@Work aims to build the capacity of vocational education and training (VET) providers and teachers in Tanzania.
UNIDO Zambia – Developing a curriculum and delivering training of trainers on water in mining
Promoting water protection in Zambia and creating the capacity for a Zambian vocational training centre to provide training for sector operators in sustainable water management.
Youth Empowerment, Employment and VET in Somalia 2023-2024
Three projects, Himilo, Kaabe and Kobciye are youth empowerment and employments projects aimed at developing vocational education and youth employment in Somalia.
Zambia 21st Century Forestry Education
Zambia 21st Century Forestry Education-project seeks to develop 21st century skills through working life relevant forestry curricula planning and implementation processes in higher education in Zambia.
