Senior Design Engineer project will develop and pilot a new 15-credit training package on the specific challenges and opportunities of digital technologies in product design, based on future skills needs.

The aim of the training is to make the potential of new technologies available to working staff in SMEs, to those who are unemployed or at risk of becoming unemployed and, in particular, to older professionals in the sector.

The training will support the development of relevant skills, networking and peer learning of at least 28 participants, and thus their well-being at work. The project will bring together experienced mechanical engineering professionals and graduating mechanical engineering students in the same study group, using methods of open expertise, project management and community building.

The project will focus on the competence-based renewal of participants and support their lifelong learning. In-service training, piloted during the project, will deepen the specific knowledge of experts in the field on modern 3D technologies and the organisation and productivity of their own work through design methodology.

The project will guide product design or development projects applying the training content, and produce a digital training package for reverse engineering. The project will result in a dynamic and collaboratively evolving training service and model that will be used as part of HAMK’s 3D Academy activities and continuing education.
