In Waste heat for utilization (Hukka) project, we are assessing the potential of utilising waste heat as an energy source and tackling the barriers to its use.
Kanta-Häme region’s goal is to be carbon neutral by 2035, and in line with this goal, the municipalities, cities and companies in the region are also looking for carbon neutral solutions and operating models. Making use of waste heat could reduce primary energy consumption, but only little research has been done on this topic in Finland.
In Waste heat for utilization (Hukka) project, we are looking for solutions to assess the opportunities and barriers for waste heat utilisation. We will produce a state-of-play analysis of the utilisation of waste heat in the current energy market situation, and identify the reasons for its low utilisation rate as an energy source.
We will also chart the most significant locations of waste heat in Kanta-Häme, with the aim of making them publicly visible on a map service created in Energy Observatory project.
Target group
The main target groups of the project are potential users, producers and potential intermediaries or technology providers of waste heat energy, i.e. various energy customers, small and medium-sized enterprises, district heating companies and technology companies.
Area of activity
The main area of activity is Kanta-Häme.
