In the Hortianna project, we are gathering a nationally and internationally renowned cluster of expertise in horticulture on HAMK’s Lepaa campus, with the help of which we will work with companies and other actors to pursue new innovations based on the circular economy.
During the project, we will develop new ideas in the idea incubator, which will be piloted during the project, and test them in practice in cooperation with operators in the horticultural sector.
We are gathering a network of horticultural operators that promotes the circular economy, which includes companies, research organisations and other operators in the field.
We help our partners achieve the SDGs through concrete actions and by promoting our partners’ own goals

Operating area
Kanta-Häme and the whole Finland
Work packages
In the work package, we coordinate the activities of the idea incubator, the construction of the innovation ecosystem and competence cluster and the smooth progress of the project, as well as the project administration, monitoring, steering group activities, reporting and communications.
The work package supports the creation of new circular and horticultural and cleantech innovations by companies by piloting idea incubator activities. Our goal is to combine the product development of companies from different sectors, as well as experts and research, and thus create a multidisciplinary future-oriented competence cluster and innovation ecosystem committed to the circular economy and sustainable development.
An internationally renowned competence cluster will be built on HAMK’s Lepaa campus, and its demonstration environment will enable low-threshold small-scale experiments and pilots.
The experiments carried out in the project can be continued and further developed as part of the companies’ own business and research activities, as a paid research service by HAMK or in other projects.
You can get involved in the activities and network by participating in the workshops, innovation workshops, seminars and webinars organised in the project. At these events, knowledge and ideas are shared and contacts are created.
The workshops contribute to the creation of an innovation ecosystem and improve opportunities for the intersecting research and development needs of different sectors, as well as provide input for idea incubator activities.
The aim of the workshops is to identify synergies between companies and other actors and to promote the creation of circular economy solutions.
