New Student and Staff Councils elected for RUN European University
The role of the councils is to raise issues of importance to students and staff to support the development and decision-making of RUN-EU.
Student participation and engagement are at the core of RUN European University. The main channel for student participation is the RUN-EU Student Council. HAMK’s new RUN-EU Student Council will start its work in January. It will consist of 15 students from different HAMK’s campuses and fields of study and will run for one year.
The students participate in the development of RUN-EU, raise issues important to students, raise awareness of the -EU in their student communities and keep in touch with the seven other RUN-EU Student Councils. The students participate in the annual RUN-EU Student Week and the President and Vice-President of each Council attend the RUN European University Steering Group meeting at the annual RUN-EU General Assembly.
Students have been involved in developing the European University since the early days of the RUN-EU. The newly elected Council is already the fifth RUN-EU Student Council at HAMK.
A new way for staff to have a say at RUN European University
The first RUN-EU Staff Council, consisting of 12 members of HAMK staff, has started its work. The Staff Council was selected from among the applicants on the basis that all campuses and different staff groups are represented as diversely as possible.
The mission of HAMK’s RUN-EU Staff Council is to contribute to the development of the RUN European University and to raise issues of importance to the staff in order to develop RUN-EU and support its decision-making. In addition, the RUN-EU Staff Council creates and maintains contacts between different staff groups of other RUN partner universities and contributes to the flow of information within our organisation.
HAMK’s own Staff Council is part of the joint RUN European University Staff Council, one of the three advisory bodies of RUN-EU. The other two are the Student Council and the Associated Partner Advisory Board, composed of regional partners.
