HAMK’s joint application starts January 8th
The Finnish joint application is open from 8 January to 22 January. HAMK offers various degree programmes taught in English, including two brand-new options for applicants: Bachelor’s degree programme in Early Childhood and Care and Master’s degree programme in Applied Machine Learning.
There is also a separate application for the globally unique Wearable Master’s degree Programme from 16 December to 31 January.
There are 14 Bachelor’s degrees and two Master’s degrees available in English. The new Bachelor’s degree programme in Early Childhood Education and Care and the new Master’s degree programme in Applied Machine Learning are both conducted in Hämeenlinna University Center.
The Early Childhood Education and Care is being offered to address regional and national staff shortages in the sector. There is also an international demand for high quality Finnish early childhood education and care skills. Machine learning, on the other hand, is the skill of the future. The aim is to train people to master current machine learning methods and to learn how to develop the underlying data infrastructures so that models can be deployed in different environments in an optimised and secure way.
“Our supply of English-language education has grown steadily and the proportion of international students among all students in HAMK is one of the highest in Finland,” says Vice President Heidi Ahokallio-Leppälä.

General principles of the Joint application
The Joint application includes the degree programmes of Universities of Applied Sciences and Universities offered in foreign language. The study programmes start in Autumn.
- you can apply for up to six different degree programmes on a single application form
- there is no need to rank the degree programmes in order of preference
- the schools included are covered by one place per term provision
Under the single university place rule, you can only take up one university place leading to a university degree from a degree programme starting in the same semester. This provision applies to places obtained in joint applications, individual applications and university postgraduate applications. For example, if you accept a place in the joint application, you cannot accept a place in the second joint call in the spring, or vice versa.
