EMBRACE Project Sets Sail – Modernizing Higher Education in Latin America through the new era of digital higher education cooperation
The EMBRACE project, a transformative initiative aimed at modernizing higher education in the Latin America, Brazil and Colombia in particular, through digital and pedagogical competence development of teachers, has officially commenced on April 1, 2023. This ambitious project, designed to respond to the growing demands of the five Latin American partners, has already had several online meetings for sharing ideas, insights, and best practices in digital education, and paving the way for a face-to-face kick-off meeting.
With the goal of enhancing the region’s higher education landscape, the EMBRACE project empowers partner institutions to adapt to the challenges of the digital era. Through targeted interventions, the project seeks to equip teachers with the necessary digital and pedagogical competences, foster collaboration between academia and industry/society, and create a more inclusive and student-centered learning ecosystem.
Now, the much-awaited face-to-face kick-off meeting of the EMBRACE project took place from August 28 to September 1, 2023, in Vitoria, Brazil, hosted by the Federal Institute of Education Science and Technology of Espírito Santo (IFES). The kick-off meeting offered a unique opportunity for participants to interact and exchange ideas nurturing a spirit of collaboration and cooperation among the diverse stakeholders involved, as well as hosted the first hands-on workshops for the teachers to lay the groundwork for the successful implementation of the project’s capacitation process.
“We were thrilled to host the kick-off meeting in Vitoria, Brazil,” expressed Dr. Marize Lyra Silva Passos, the EMBRACE Project Manager at IFES. “This project holds immense potential to reshape higher education in our region, and we are excited to collaborate with other partners to realize this vision.”
As the EMBRACE project gathers pace, the target audiences – teachers, educational managers, students, and industry partners – are eagerly anticipating the positive outcomes it promises to deliver. By enhancing the digital and pedagogical competences of teachers, fostering collaboration between academia and industry, and creating a robust learning ecosystem, the project seeks to elevate higher education to new heights within the partner institutions, ultimately benefiting the region and its future generations of learners.
