DataMill opens new doors for collaboration between cities and businesses

The availability and usability of data produced by cities and businesses are key factors in developing attractiveness and services. The main goal of the DataMill project is to refine and utilize data for the development of city and business operations.

The importance of data has grown exponentially, but we are only scratching the surface of its true potential. In the DataMill project, we harness the power of data to create a system where the cities of Riihimäki, Hämeenlinna, and Forssa, as well as businesses, can work together to develop sustainable development, intelligent decision-making, and service innovations offered by digitalization.

In the project, we will implement several pilot projects, test the latest technologies, and develop new ways of working for both the public and private sectors. In addition, we support the digitalization of SMEs in the project and help them find new business models based on data and sustainable development principles.

Sustainable growth through cooperation and digitalization.

The DataMill platform created in the project establishes a completely new operating environment, where companies and municipalities can together develop future solutions that support sustainable growth and vibrant urban structure. This is a step towards a data-driven and smarter society, where decision-making and development work are based on the analysis and utilization of historical and up-to-date data.

With the help of new technologies and data, it is possible to develop energy-efficient and circular economy-based solutions that support sustainable urban development and business. The DataMill platform enables the utilization of data produced in cities to promote the achievement of cities’ carbon neutrality goals.

In the project, essential partners are cities that produce and utilize data for the development of their operations. However, the most important target group of the project are also companies that utilize data produced in urban structures, provide services to cities, and also produce data for common use.
