In Biopigment project, we are promoting the transition of the dye and binder industry from fossil raw materials to renewable raw materials.

Consumer products and the built environment consume large amounts of dyes, pigments and binders. These substances are currently mainly produced from non-renewable sources such as oil and mines. In Durable biopigments and binders (Biopigment) project, we are promoting the transition of the dyes and binders industry from fossil raw materials to renewable raw materials.

We study bio-dyes and -binders extracted from side-stream biomasses, and their processing into coatings and textiles. We investigate the efficiency and profitability of bio-dye and -binder production processes and how they could be applied to existing processes. We also gather information on the acceptance and demand for natural dyes in different products.

We will implement the project in partnership with the companies involved.

Target group

The main target groups of the project are companies in the textile and coatings manufacturing chain, textile and wood construction professionals, architects and designers, and the scientific public.

Area of activity

The results of the project will benefit companies and professionals in the target group nationwide.
