The application for Professional Teacher Education programmes begins tomorrow on January 8
The application for professional teacher education programmes is held from 8th to 22nd January 2025. At HAMK, professional teacher education and professional guidance counsellor education can be studied in English.
The application period for HAMK’s professional teacher education is held annually in January. The application for the year 2025 starts tomorrow on January 8, 2025. Application forms will available at 8.00 AM on Studyinfo service.
HAMK offers Professional Teacher Education and Professional Guidance Counsellor Education in English.
International Professional Teacher Education
The education provides a general pedagogical qualification but it is specifically aimed at applicants who want to work as teachers in vocational schools or universities of applied sciences.
The International Professional Teacher Education will be conducted online. The scope of the studies is 60 credits and the duration of the studies is 13 months. The studies begin in May 2025. Students who have previously completed basic studies in educational sciences will study for 10 months and start their studies in August 2025.
Professional Guidance Counsellor Education
The Professional Guidance Counsellor Education is further education for teachers and it provides broad eligibility for positions and duties for study and guidance counsellors in higher education, vocational education and general upper and lower secondary education. To apply, applicants should have a pedagogical qualification completed in Finland or recognised by the Finnish National Agency for Education.
The Professional Guidance Counsellor Education will be consuded online. The scope of the studies is 60 credits and the duration of the studies is 13 months. The studies begin in May 2025.
Application and student selection process
Each programme has its own application form, which can be found on the studyinfo.fi service. The application deadline is on January 22, 2025 at 3:00 PM. With one application, you can apply to two different institutions. HAMK is currently the only institution that offers Professional Guidance Counsellor Education in English.
Eligibility of applicants is checked, and in addition, the applications of eligible applicants are scored according to the admission criteria. Each education programme has its own admission criteria, which can also be found on the studyinfo.fi service.
HAMK will also organise admission information webinars for those interested are interested in the programmes.
The results of the Professional Guidance Counsellor Education application will be published on March 19, 2025. The results of the International Professional Teacher Education application will be published on March 27, 2025. The admission results will be published on the My Studyinfo service and sent via email to the applicants.
