Water use and management are crucial for promoting sustainable development in Egypt, but the sector faces also significant challenges. If issues related to water availability and quality are not addressed in a timely manner, the economic and social progress of Egypt might be hindered. This project aims to provide solutions by supporting the capacity building of Egypt’s water sector professionals.

As part of the initiative, HAMK will implement a tailored one-week pilot training program focusing on sustainable and integrated water resource management. The training will be developed in collaboration with the Regional Centre for Training and Water Studies (RCTWS) and will provide practical tools for the efficient and sustainable use of water resources.

The project strengthens Egypt’s water management expertise and practices, leading to more sustainable and efficient water management systems. These improvements will benefit local communities as well as public and private stakeholders. Additionally, the project seeks to establish a foundation for long-term collaboration and serve as a model for other countries facing similar challenges. In doing so, it contributes to local water security while supporting international climate and development goals.

HAMK’s initiative is one of the subprojects supporting the main project implemented by the Finnish Water Forum (FWF), alongside parallel subprojects carried out by Laurea, Savonia, and Metropolia.
